The purpose of the Stars of Magnitude luncheon is multifaceted with an important bi-product of raising funds for Talladega College, a school distinguished for providing quality education at an affordable price. Talladega was established in 1867 fueled by the bravery and foresight of two former slaves, William Savery and Thomas Tarrant. Their objective of educating deserving young people within a unique learning environment continues as the school offers need-based scholarships to eligible students without compromising academic excellence.
We also hope to inspire more Talladega alumni to share their time, talent, and treasure in support of the alumni association, which in turn, supports the school. There are over 400 graduates in the Atlanta area - Less than 1% are active. The challenge to each person who walked the crimson and blue path is to do at least one of the following: pay national and local alumni dues, annually support the college financially with a gift that matters, become active by attending meetings or an event, and recommending Talladega College to a deserving student.
We as alumni cannot afford to lose sight of the plight facing HBCUs of which Talladega is a part nor to lose touch with the reality of need for young people in today’s difficult environment. Please join us as your local chapter attempts to proactively make a difference.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
